www.abi.com.pl So off we go, Agnieszka and I, stopping in a few towns along the way to install a memorial plaque of Kazimerz Nowak.
We got to Buka after 3 days. We couldn't go any futher north because of a bandit rebellion further up the road. In town we both took a malaria test which was positive for each of us, so we got some medicine to treat it. In this country it is very difficult to treat that disease because it is everywhere!!
We also had to go to the local army and police for "registration". They were trying to bribe us for some money but didn't get any.
From here we decided to go west to Bouar where our friendly missionary Piotr was staying. The road started to become really challenging but we liked it that way. We passed small and larger villages. Sometimes stopping at one of the very colourful markets to take some photos go to the river to wash and watch the local people throw nets to catch fish.
It was fabulous I must say.
We almost made it to Bouar, but 70 km before town we had to turn around because Agnieszka got a fever and we had to go back to the closest hospital which was in Bouzum. The return trip was really dramatic. Agnieszka wanted to cycle back but her condition was worsening hour by hour.
Just before dark she took a motorcycle to town. Me and one man I met on the road went back on the bikes in the dark to the mission in Bozoum were we met together. She was better now, but still feverish!!
The next day we took another test for malaria and took more medicne but Agnieszka couldn't continue any further. When she found a car to go to Bangui I went off to Bouar to deliver our special book and depart for Cameroon. I must say that the road was very bad but rewarding in the end because I met some people from the Acu tribe and took some nice photographs.
