www.abi.com.pl When we crossed the river it started to become more wild and more amazing. Everlasting Jungle all around us. The small Pigmy settlements and suprising big towns of Pokola and Kabwe where a huge mill is operating, a company employing around 5000 people. Just after the gate is just jungle.
On our way to Bomesa we were very lucky and saw gorillas crossing the road and in Bomesa itself on the following morning elephants were wandering between the houses.
People beforehand were telling us that this place was special and full of animals but we never expected such an intensive experience, not even looking for them too hard.
In Bomesa we had to organise a boat trip to Lijombo in the Republic of Central Africa. It wasn't easy and wasn't cheap. Finally we agreed on transport with a total cost of 100 000 CEFA which was far too much but we had not much of an option. Locals for this trip were paying around 5 000 CEFA per person. I was boiling with frustration but it was looking like white man would have to pay more, end of conversation.
The boat trip took 9 hour and wasn't pleasant I must say. We ended up on RCA land in late evening and straight away had to deal with totally different people and bigger problems. It was the beginning of the hardest part of the trip. More in my next entry.
