The place looks almost like in the pictures. Now, you can't feel the wind on your face, but you must believe me it was blowing quite hard. I decided to ride in a mask on my face to reduce lost of moisture. It was a great idea, I think, I reduced it up to 30%. Dust and dry air are also not good for people’s throats, thus the mask was helping to keep it well. I was speeding quite well with north-east. Newly bought front tyre was doing well, although its quality ,"Made in China," made it difficult to put on.



From the crossroad next to Aleg, I entered the Sahara. Sand dunes were everywhere, bushes growing here and there, camels rambling, Maurs living in their tents, but the towns were like a ghosts towns. I’ve seen a lot of dead animals on the roadside and If I haven’t seen them, I would smell them definitely! Steep climb up a sand dune and fast dive down with precipitate speed, which was just enough to take me up to the next climb, but even though, in this sun it was massive effort. Sand dunes and noting else beyond, from time to time some small settlements with water towers and mosques, not much shade to rest under; but such is life in the desert. People live here; however, I don’t really see the way they can sustain themselves. Every second sand dune there will be a settlement; if there is water, there will be life. Sometimes I went camping not far from the road (it is hard to push through the sand) and sometimes gendarmerie check post proved to be helpful.

I must admit It was a good going and probably everybody could do it. I didn’t have troubles with finding water or food.



I was getting closer and closer to Nouakchott - one of these places which might be "the last port of call."
