From Bandiagara I had tar roads all the way to Mopti so, by around 16:00 I was in Severe, although still weak, I was holding on. William Snapper who is a very active pensioner from the Netherlands, and has been residing in Mali for the last 6 years (and a CSurfer as well) invited me to stay at his house to rest and get myself together!
William is running a few projects here with the local community, one of which is an amateur cinema for the local population. There is nothing like that for 600 km!! And he does it for free!!
I did indeed get better after taking one more round of medicine for malaria and a bunch of aspirin.
On Monday I went to Mopti and also got some medicine for Typhoide so I will be taking some pills for the next 10 days. Generally on this trip in Africa I have been taking some kind of medicine every 2-3 weeks. I bet when I come back home I will get sick just because I took so many pills on the way here in Africa!!!
Some might say that I'm just a weak fella, but at least I recover fast!

Here in Africa there are a lot of different diseases and not being sick would be just weird. During all this time when I even think about Kazimierz Nowak, the polish cycling traveller in Africa I can just imagine how tough it was for him in those days!!!

Mopti is indeed, as many people say, the most interesting town in Mali. The port especially gives the impression of an exotic place. You can feel the wind from the desert, the salt from Timbouctu being sold on the streets, muslims drinking tea in their shops under the shade of a tree. Fat black women selling food from big round aluminium pots. The variety of exotic food and tastes so well known.
Fruit sellers with their carts pulled by donkeys.
Dust and wind.
Some adventures might begin here?
