www.abi.com.pl So I got to Bamenda, quite a big city in the mountains although suprisingly flat, being above1000 m.npm. After a crazy descent to the city I contacted a friend of a friend from Yaounde who is an Indian doctor lecturing at the local University. He appeared to be quite a friendly fellow and after the necessary shower and washing we went to the local night club.
It was loud and dirty! After midnight there was a dancing girls show. Hee hee, it was an interesting experience!!
The next day was a bit funny because although I had a hangover I had to climb up the very steep road for about 500 metres. It was a tough climb and no rewards along the pass because of cloudy weather and no food available. Only the police check post and some stalls with potatoes. Wow, what a place!! I felt like I needed to take a photographe but when the locals saw me with a camera they immediately started to complain, the police especially!!! I decided to buy some carrots (which had no taste) and continued down the hill which was never ending. With similar numbers of ups and downs I was making progress up to Nkambe. The road was variable, sometimes good wth tar and sometimes the typical DRC nightmarish standards. I must say it was very interesting.
Unfortunately, most of the time I had cloudy weather so I took just a few photographs. The cloudy weather and the coldness made it really pleasant for cycling though.
I got to Nkambe after around 3 days following a never-ending mist surrounding the peaks of the mountains. Just before a huge storm with a lot of thunder and lightening hit, I found a shelter in a Gangarmery post. Just before all hell broke loose.
It was raining the rest of a day. I was lucky to find a place to sleep in a local catholic mission.
