THE SPONSOR OF MY BICYCLE SPARE PARTS IS COMPANY PRODUCING FINE BICYCLE SADDLES
www.abi.com.pl TEXT STILLWhen I entered the country I was expecting nice towns and friendly people. Instead of that it was just a bit more dowdy than in RCA but similarly chaotic.
Soon after crossing the border I was continuing south to the capital city, Yaounde. It took me 4 days to get there. With small stopovers in missions and the bigger towns.
Unfortunately, just at the start of this passage I was robbed. I was given a gift by the missionaries in Bouar, a solar charger. Unfortunately it was stolen. I don't know even where and when?
In Yaounde I had a Couchsurfing host waiting for me, Lilian. I must say that the meeting was quite exciting, not because of the person although she was very nice but because of the hilarious bike ride following the motorcycle she was riding on through town. Traffic jams, up and down hills and general chaos on the roads made it a very sensational experience.
The very next day I started feeling bad, was feverish and weak. I initially thought it was malaria and took some medication but it appears tha it wasn't that. In the evening I went to one of the better hospitals in town.
For five days I was lying in the hospital, feverish and with an intense headache.
The doctors performed a lot of different tests which showed very little. Finally, they gave me some strong antibiotics. It appears that is was Amoeba and another bacteria which was causing the high fever.
Once my temperature was down I started to feel better and was discharged.
Following this, Lilian and her cousin Cecelia cared for me like a brother. I'm very greatfull to them for this. They were feeding me, and arranging everything I needed.
It was good to have them there during this difficult time.
All of these hospital visits cost me a lot of money and health. I'm well now although still taking antibiotics. I hope I will be alright and back on the bike soon. I've been in this country around 10 days and I haven't seen too much yet. I can't wait untill I will get out there.
Cheers!!
