THE SPONSOR OF MY BICYCLE SPARE PARTS IS COMPANY PRODUCING FINE BICYCLE SADDLES
www.abi.com.pl Sooo..... I was planning the trip for 2 quick days but nature is stronger than a mere human, especially one travelling on a bicycle.
So, it was raining and the road was full of holes and mud was everywhere. My chain was loud like a cement mixer, and I stopped into a school run by an ex-african traveller. The school was special because it was for naughty kids (boys). Fifty in total. As I stayed there for 2 nights, I was involved in some caring duties and I had a bit of fun using some of my knowledge from my time as an outdoor camp instructor!
Steve Harpt(USA) the headmaster, was an old crazy vagabond and we had a lot of laughs in the evenings. He knows the Delta really well, and decided to show me around one afternoon, on the motorboat. So with a slightly untrustworthy outboard motor and his quite solid tin dinghy with marks of a hippo attack, we did a cruise around!
Avoiding a hippo and hitching the dinghy next to a small crocodile was the highlight of the trip!!
After a really enjoyable stay, and loads of good new tips on African travel and around Okavango, I left and continued on to Seronga. One of Steve's tips was a nice spot for camping.
So, once agan I had an exciting night with hippos in the grass not far from me and elephants noisily announcing their presence on the banks of the river in the night time.
More or less it was a really enjoyable trip although the road itself is worse than horrible. However, the views and the great places made it really worthwhile!
The way back south was as I was expecting it, fast down wind with a few familiar places to stop and refill calories. The rain wasn't even so intensive!!!
