THE SPONSOR OF MY BICYCLE SPARE PARTS IS COMPANY PRODUCING FINE BICYCLE SADDLES
www.abi.com.pl Just after my depature from Opuwo I realised that it's going to be hard going on C41 to Okahao. The road was not only sandy and in bad condition, but it was in the stage of being rebuilt! Big trucks have been driving some sections of it and made it a real challenge to go through with a bike on the sand.
But slowly, slowly catching as much friction as I could on any posible area around the road I made to the other side.
There it started to be flat and I imagine it looks really similar to the Etosha Plain, with long stretches of sandy areas and dry plains.
I spent the night under the stars, after previously filling up my stomach in a small settlement.
Oshakati is just a big town. But travelling in north Ovambo area means a lot of small towns and settlements along the road.
In all of them there are more than 5 small restaurants with cheap food and the obligatory alcohol. That is why I enjoyed it a lot!!!
The wind was also on my tail all the time, I felt in fine shape and had ready made food after every 20 km with the added bonus of tar roads making really good cycling conditions, and every day I was doing more than my daily planned limit.
For Christmas I spent it in Omuthiya, enjoying the local market, fried catterpillars, beer and more food.
Real Africa of Northen Namibia! I must say that these people know how to enjoy their life. Everywhere is some kind of bar in a small shack where beer is sold and loud lively music wakes you up and colorful people make a background for good photographs.
