Accra is big, very big some might say, and so it took a very long time to get into the city and it will probably be a long road out.
Just before I got to Accra I passed through the Lake Volta region and I was very impressed with what I saw. Although it was cloudy, I really enjoyed the lake shoreline and the views of the expansive Lake. It is a pity that there was not much information about activities you might be able to do around the lake but it is definitley worth it to go and have a look.
From there, I headed straight to Accra although it felt like the winds were trying to stop me. I wasn't in a hurry, so the trip was fairly pleasant in the end. I even met some interesting people including a Ghanian veterinarian and his mixed family from Ukrainian and Ghanian orgin.
In Accra I was kindly hosted by an Indian CS host in his comfortable house provided by his company. My stay was very pleasant.
The next day I got my Burkina Faso visa within one day, although it wasn't cheap (100 USD).
I am happy to report that mostly everything went smoothly in Accra. Fast visa procedures, fairly fast internet, pleasant and very friendly people, and even something to see in the city!! Which I of course have seen!! Not to mention that there is electricity on for the full 24 hours!
However, as Accra is a big city, inevitably there are the related problems relating to public transport and traffic jams. Unrelable buses choke the city and make it hard to move around.
One day I decided to travel within the city by bus, and it was a hassle like always. On my way 'home' it took 2 hours to cover a distance that I could ride in 15 minutes on a bicycle,
In it's favour, the people are extremely friendly and as soon as they recognised that I needed some information or suggestions they all did what they could to help. Very lovely!!

The National Museum also had a fairly interesting exhibition and if you enjoy history of seafaring, James Town and the fishing port will give you a taste of old times. Beside this, it was true to say that Accra is just another African town.
